i cast burning hands

Just spent 2 hours learning the hard way that Anaheim chiles do, in fact, contain measurable capsaicin. While I'm grateful that it was my left hand that got zapped (and at least as grateful for the presence of a husband to finish preparing the dinner I'd just got started on), I'm a little confused. The burn was worse than with Poblanos, which are hotter. I wonder if maybe the Scoville scale better predicts duration than intensity. Either way, wearing gloves next time.
