Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] sekl. I also stole her additional commentary because I like it, and I'm not going to tag anyone because we can do better than just making this thing essentially a stationary chain letter.

Each player starts with 7 random facts/habits about themselves. People who are tagged need to write their own blog with their 7 things as well as these rules. You need to tag 7 others and list their names on your blog. Remember to leave a comment for them letting them know they have been tagged and to read your blog.

You may read without tagging, you may tag without reading. But any information you do post can and will be used against you if I meet your offspring, relatives, or your parrot.

(So here's mine.)

1. I have the fidget gene. It's said that people with this particular variation burn more calories; if so, I'm infinitely grateful to it, as without it I'd probably be huge. Then again, I'd have fewer hangnails and better hair.

2. I have a thing for license plates. (No, not like that, ya sicko.) Years of playing the make-a-word game eventually morphed into looking for pairs of plates that could be turned into names or words from books or movies, which I've been doing for over 10 years now. It's a huge rush when I spot a good pair. And I can tell you exactly which plates in TV shows are impossible or unlikely and why...if they're from California anyway.

3. Somewhere in my room at my parents' house is a detailed record of life in my head at age 11-13. I hope I find it before they do.

4. My Swiss Army knife is 16 years old and the model (Ranger) has long been discontinued. It was the most compact model that included everything MacGyver ever used on the show. Which was why my parents indulged me when I said I needed it to have a corkscrew.

5. I rarely ship the "main" couple of anything. His Dark Materials, a couple of the Mercedes Lackey Elemental Masters books, and possibly BSG (I don't know what people consider "main" and I can't look anything up without getting spoiled grrrrr) are exceptions. However, Heroes marks the first time I have shipped blatantly non-canon.

6. I took piano lessons for a year and a half. The teacher told me when I signed up that the annual Certificate of Merit testing was optional, then later (when I didn't want to do it again) said it wasn't. I'd already been having huge problems reading sheet music due to a good year of photographic memory interacting with too-easy music, which the teacher couldn't fathom, and that tore it. Quitting meant my mom refused to let me take any more lessons for anything ever again, but it freed up time for Science Olympiad and such, so I consider it a good trade.

7. I can't whistle. I'm constantly collecting data to support my hypothesis that this is a side effect of a high palate. Anybody got info for me?

The corkscrew is very necessary. We mostly use the Leatherman tools around here now, though. We had the key chain knives until TSA's campaign of evil and the corkscrew model from when Jim was an eagle scout.
