tick-tocked off
Jun. 23rd, 2005 11:55 pmFigured out what the watch is doing: the hour hand is out of sync with the minute hand. I noticed that it had "jumped" early today, at 7 instead of 8, and I didn't reset it right away. When it read 9:00, I noticed that the minute hand was smack on the 12, but the hour hand was still at the spot for about 8:45. I kicked it forward a couple of hours for the heck of it, and the hour hand stayed "off." I couldn't tell if it got farther off as I adjusted it further, but it certainly didn't get better. It's not that the time is jumping ahead, but that I didn't notice anything was amiss until I didn't look at it for a while.
Working this out is kind of a relief, since it means I'm not seeing things. It also means I can't fix it myself. So now we have to decide what to do with it: send it back for repair, take it in to a jeweler, or just take it back to Mervyn's for a refund. I'm leaning toward packing it up and sending it to Timex for them to mess with. No way I'm paying for anything more than postage or gas to take care of this. I just hope nobody freaks out if the package starts ticking......
