Wednesday: The sound of a pile driver a quarter mile away bounces off different buildings at different times and pitches. I was thankful there were no cars driving through the parking lot as I wandered through, listening to the period of the echo change as I got closer to one of the buildings, and then change again as I passed it and headed toward the other, farther away. It's one thing to know about the speed and properties of sound, quite a goofy-grin-inducing other to stand in the middle of a demonstration of it.

Friday: My mango green tea from Tapioca Express today contained little translucent fruity stars as well as the usual tapioca. I think they're made of the same stuff as whatever they put in the middle of those little konjac gel candies you can't find anywhere anymore. Very pretty.

It's one thing to know about the speed and properties of sound,

quite another to recognize a demonstration and be geek enough to analyze it. Ahh, to have a perma-handy video/tape recorder to capture this sort of thing.
