In my first post about Puzzle Pirates, I was pretty much gushing about how flattering it was to get recruited right off the bat. Now I know why everybody was after me. If your crew recruits someone who's not a subscriber and who subscribes once they're on the crew, the crew gets what's called "shanghai points." These can be used to rename ships belonging to people on the crew. So, they're not necessarily after your mad skillz; they may just want to change the "Hard-Working Alewife" to the "Electric Bugaloo." I'm glad now that I subscribed before joining a crew, as I'm not a fan of disillusionment. Then again, I might also know why the captain seems to have less patience with me than with other crew members......

Don't put up with it; there're plenty of crews out there that're stress and expectation-free. :)

Oh, I switched out. So did several other people. The captain went all psycho, but it eventually got resolved. The crew I'm currently with is psycho in a good way. And hey, I got a pretty solid Legendary status in sails, a keen sense of teaming, and a couple of friends from the experience, so it wasn't all bad.
