should've gone exploring
Jun. 29th, 2004 01:39 pmWe picked up the DVD of Chamber of Secrets this weekend and watched the deleted scenes last night. It was sort of a relief not to have to go through all the rigmarole of the last DVD to get to them, but part of me did actually want to go on an infohunt. Well, today I found out I should have gone on one, just not on the DVD. Apparently JKR's site has some new info on it, and if I've got the time zones right, I would have been able to access it last night if I'd gone looking.
So, the question is, if the "HBP" isn't Harry or Voldemort, who is it? My money's on Godric Gryffindor, based on there being info planned for book 6 that didn't make it into CoS and the severe lack of info about the meaning of being a "true Gryffindor" up until now. It would also make sense with what some people have theorized about series structure: that just as OotP had some common threads with PoA, HBP is likely to have the same kind of relationship with CoS. Time, memory, heritage, and blood would certainly figure in a plot linking Harry with Godric, and would nicely connect the books thematically. "Two houses, both alike in dignity.....From ancient grudge break to new mutiny," indeed.
